PRESS RELEASE FROM PARENTS & TEACHERS FOR EXCELLENCE

  • PTE North announced – and will launch shortly
  • Director Mark Lehain leaves at the end of the month.

Parents and Teachers of Excellence announces the launch of our next regional hub: PTE North. Building on the insights gained from the PTE-supported Midlands Knowledge Schools Hub, PTE North will organise events and support for parents and teachers, to further share transformational practices among and across schools.

The Steering Group for this will be chaired by Helena Brothwell, Regional Director for the David Ross Education Trust, and she will be supported in this by a number of other established names in the education sector. We will announce more details shortly.

We are also announcing today that Mark Lehain, Director of Parents & Teachers for Excellence, leaves us for the next stage in his career at the end of the month.

Mark joined PTE in September 2017. During his tenure he has helped PTE become one of the key voices of sense in the education sector, building links with hundreds of schools and thousands of teachers. Working with our Advisory Council and sector experts, through a range of support, including events and publications, we have helped more and more pupils benefit from great school cultures and curriculum.

Dame Rachel de Souza, PTE co-founder, said: “It’s been a real pleasure working with Mark. PTE wants educational excellence for every child, and his combination of frontline experience, policy prowess, and energy has delivered so much in support of this. We wish him every success with his next steps, and are delighted that he will remain involved with us as Chair of the PTE Network.”

Mark said: “I’ve loved every minute of my time at PTE, and met so many inspiring families, teachers, and kids along the way. Schools have come so far in recent years, especially as the wider system has got to grips with the freedoms it has to transform lives. We know what it takes to make every school a great school – warm-strict cultures and a knowledge-rich curriculum – and I’m proud of the small part I’ve been able to play in spreading other people’s wonderful ideas.”

The process to recruit the new Director is under way and an announcement will be made shortly.
